The fifth poem, describing a noon tryst, introduces Corinna by name. Poem 4 is didactic and describes principles which Ovid would develop in the Ars Amatoria. The plot is linear, with a few artistic digressions such as an elegy on the death of Tibullus.īook 1 contains 15 poems the first poem tells of Ovid's intention to write epic poetry which is thwarted when Cupid steals a metrical foot from him, changing his work into love elegy.
